CGR has considerable experience of working with local communities,
the private sector and the full range of government and public sector
agencies on the development and implementation of area regeneration
strategies and programmes.
Charles Green was Director of Strategy and Regeneration at Salford
City Council for 11 years where he established the City’s national
reputation for regeneration and partnership working. He led both the
area regeneration and housing functions of the local authority.
Charles led the Manchester/Salford Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder
Programme, the first in the country to be approved by government securing £125m
HMRF for the first 3 years of operation. He was also principal advisor
to the award winning Seedley / Langworthy Regeneration Initiative
and the successful Kersal/Charlestown New Deal for Communities Initiative.
Charles was commissioned by Liverpool City Council to be Interim
Head of Housing Market Renewal. Here, he led the HMR Division over
a 7 month period, working closely with colleagues and partners including
the Newheartlands Pathfinder, to deliver a £30m per annum HMR
programme. He worked in partnership with the four lead developers,
the designated RSLs and local communities. He also reviewed the delivery
arrangements for the City Council.
